Job Purpose:
The Mozzarella Packaging is responsible for all packaging duties within the Mozzarella department.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Performs all packaging duties as assigned by the Mozzarella Supervisor.
- Works in assigned areas of various packaging lines.
- Packages, palletizes, and labels various products.
- Records essential packaging information with accordance with the SQF procedures.
- Assists in bulk packaging of Mozzarella from brine.
- Records essential information pertaining to bulk packaging.
- Able to rotate between lines and positions practicing good ergonomics.
- Ability to work in a coordinated and cooperative manner in a team setting with team goals.
- Ability to read and understand production and packaging schedule and packaging verification reports.
- Assist in setting up for production and changeovers.
- Visually inspect product for quality defects.
- Observe all safety rules, work rules and procedures.
- Know all clean-up procedures and chemical handling procedures.
- Any general dairy work as assigned.
SQF/Food Safety Responsibilities:
- Assures compliance with all SQF Procedure requirements.
- Assures compliance with all GMP requirements.
- Assures all products are manufactured in a safe, quality manner.
- Assures compliance with all customer specifications.
- Promotes and enforces compliance with all employees.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Must report to work in clean and approved uniform.
- Excellent skills in both verbal and written communication
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Computer knowledge helpful.
- Dairy Experience Preferred.
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (degree(s) required)
Experience:
- Previous food manufacturing experience preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Warehouse work is physically strenuous. Workers are typically required to lift heavy packages, bend, stoop, or operate heavy equipment. The Warehouse is clean, well ventilated, and well lighted.
- Must be capable of working in a controlled temperature environment.
- To reduce the risk of accidents, workers are required to follow strict safety regulations.
- Warehouse workers generally work about forty hours a week.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform repetitive, manual material handling without restriction requiring but not limited to) the following physical abilities: kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and grasping. Must demonstrate the strength and aerobic capacity required for the work.
- Must have 20/20 correctable vision as well as the ability to distinguish the colors of company signage and labeling system.
- Must be able to hear sounds and recognize the difference between them.
